The Bedspread That I Didn’t Buy

On Tuesday, I came across a fantastic deal for a bedspread.  Regularly $99.99, the bedspread was marked down to $39. In addition, I had a coupon for 30% off and free shipping. And then, what do you know, but I could cash in credit card points for a $25 gift certificate. And furthermore, this was a clone of a bedspread that I had cut out of a magazine a long time ago for my house notebook. It was perfect.

And I didn’t buy it.

Here’s why.

I have a winter quilt, two jacquard bedspreads that were my great-grandmother’s, a blue chenille bedspread, and a dilapidated white chenille bedspread that was also my great-grandmother’s.

It was a fantastic buy. And yes, I would have enjoyed it, but when it wasn’t in use, it would have taken up storage space. And storage space, my friends, is rapidly becoming invaluable to me. Not to mention that….I would still have spent $20 on something that I really don’t need.

So I decided to look past the percentages, realizing that saving $20 is better than saving $80 by spending $20.

And while I’m fussing about things taking up space, maybe I’ll cut up that poor old white bedspread and make some really cool throw pillows out of it.  After all, I still have those six pillow forms sitting in my closet that I bought impulsively a year and half ago just because they were 25 cents each….
